Mercedes Matzen: IT Business Analyst Job Description

Mercedes Matzen is an IT Business Analyst at a local healthcare insurance company. She made the decision to go into this field because she knew this would give her career meaning. “I wanted a career I could be proud of,” Matzen shares. “I knew I would be able to use my skill set in this industry to make a real difference.” Mercedes Matzen must perform many different job functions at any given time throughout the day. She is responsible for coordinating and supporting IT’s projects and day-to-day initiatives. 

This includes quotes, schedules, and plans to assist a variety of stakeholders. Mercedes Matzen works with business stakeholders, IT partners, and vendors to successfully implement healthcare programs and benefits. “I ensure that these benefits and programs meet business requirements and specifications, and are within defined standards, she explains. “There is a great deal of multi-tasking and time management involved.” 

Mercedes Matzen also provides administrative support and is the contact person for programs and/or projects as it relates to the business operations of the IT department. She works to identify, prioritize, and evaluate the needs of the project team. “All of this has to be done in a timely manner and it has to be accurate to maintain project timelines,” Matzen explains. “My job is to provide support to our business and IT teams.” She is a key representative of the insurance department.

Mercedes Matzen works with vendors, professionals, and other agencies on a daily basis to ensure operations are running as efficiently as possible. “We work to improve the healthcare industry by offering support for electronic healthcare records, project teams, research, and analysis to improve current procedures implemented,” Mercedes Matzen explains. “There are few different kinds of insurance policies that companies and individuals need.” Mercedes Matzen finds the best plans that will offer essential benefits as well as new market opportunities to individuals and companies.

Mercedes Matzen works to identify the needs of stakeholders to promote the benefits of her company. She ensures that the reputation of her company is one that is known for delivering quality customer care. Mercedes Matzen listens to stakeholders and evaluates their needs by assessing the stakeholder’s long-term goals. She’s also willing to give her input if needed to ensure the needs of the business teams are met.

Mercedes Matzen also assists the IT department by helping identify and provide eligibility information to various resources. Not only provide information but ensure it is secure and accurate. She explains that her career has turned out to be more rewarding than expected because of the people she’s met. “I am always inspired by the innovative market leaders who are always looking for ways to grow and exceed expectations.”
