Mesothelioma Causes – Are They More Than Just a Few Unintended Consequences?

It’s unfortunate but true, Mesothelioma Causes is far too complex to be explained in a couple of sentences. If you do your research and find out what causes it, it can have a big impact on your prognosis, treatment options, and how much money you need to spend.

When people talk about Mesothelioma, they think of asbestos. The mesothelioma cells, when exposed to asbestos, begin to grow. Eventually, the cells become so large that they start to eat away at the lining of the chest. It’s not uncommon for them to enter the lungs, creating an infection and inflammation of the lung tissue, which makes it difficult to breathe.

There are many other reasons that Mesothelioma is diagnosed in today’s world. Some causes that can be attributed to an individual’s lifestyle and environment include: Carbon Monoxide, Poisoning, Domestic Abuse, Exposure to Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), Chemotherapy, Environmental Hazardous Material (such as diesel fuel) and Marijuana. These are all reasons why someone might get mesothelioma, but not all of them have the same causes.

Asbestos is the number one cause of Mesothelioma. Any time you’ve been around asbestos, whether on a job or in the home, you should always be aware of the dangers and wear a respirator at all times. This includes asbestos that is used in building materials, floor tiles, carpeting, fixtures, clothing, household cleaning products, ceiling tiles, furnaces, water heaters, ventilators, insulation, pipes, wiring, ductwork, and more. Since the materials we are exposed to each day could expose us to asbestos, it’s wise to do everything in our power to avoid them.

Another Mesothelioma Cause is Carbon Monoxide. Everyone has heard of cars blowing up, but the carbon monoxide hazard is far worse. Carbon monoxide isn’t as easy to detect as asbestos, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a threat.

Carbon monoxide is most dangerous if you don’t notice the effects immediately. For example, your car is stationary and you’re driving, but suddenly you experience shortness of breath and you experience dizziness. You’re fortunate if you weren’t working or sleeping at the time, but with some research, you may be able to determine if your car has a carbon monoxide leak.

Poisoning occurs when someone drinks or uses anything poisonous, which includes prescription medications, alcohol, laxatives, antifreeze, paint thinner, or even a can of hairspray. When these poisons enter the bloodstream, they can cause long-term damage that can take years to heal.

All of these things can affect your life. However, only a doctor can diagnose if there is a Mesothelioma Cause. You don’t have to worry about this type of disease because there is no known cure, but by following certain precautions, you can help reduce your risk. That way, you know that if you do get the disease, you will have the best chance of surviving it.
