If you think about how much time the average American adult spends at work, the numbers can add up pretty quickly.

If one takes into account an average of a 30-minute commute each way to work each day, the number might be somewhere around 55% of the time someone is awake. This means that for the average adult, over half of their waking hours are spent at work.

If work dominates our lives this much, it’s absolutely essential that leaders who run companies make their workplaces as desirable and fulfilling as possible. In many ways, being a great leader is akin to being a great culture builder, or creating vision and communication that helps align people around a common goal and shows them how to contribute in a fulfilling way.

However, few leaders know how to truly build cultures like this. Thomas Auringer is one of them. As the founder and CEO of U.S. Crane and Rigging, Auringer knows the power of a collective system of beliefs, expectations, priorities, traditions, and attitudes, and how these things work together to make or break a company.

Auringer has put a special emphasis on helping employees work hard, find fulfillment, and quickly rise up in the company to take on new levels of opportunity and fulfillment.

Auringer explains, “We pride ourselves in being an equal opportunity employer. U.S. Crane & Rigging makes it a tradition to pay its employees fair wages, and we value the contribution each employee makes to the growth of the company.”

As Auringer explains on U.S. Crane and Rigging’s website,

“Our most valuable resource is our employees and through them we provide a completely managed solution. Our methodology involves value engineering consultation and an extensive review focused on preparation, planning, and engineering for all crane rentals, trucking, and rigging operations. A complete understanding of our customer requirements and needs enables U.S. Crane and Rigging, LLC to execute services safely, on schedule and meet customer requirements.

Our experienced, licensed employees are among the best in the industry and our specialized equipment is unsurpassed, both determined and designed to carry out even the toughest crane and derrick rigging jobs. Whether you require a basic rough, all−terrain crane or one of our hammer head, luffer, internal or external tower cranes and derricks, we have the right tools and the right personnel to do any and all jobs.”

Auringer founded U.S. Crane and Rigging in 2000. U.S. Crane and Rigging is widely regarded as America’s top project supplier for all-terrain cranes, hammerheads, luffer, internal or external tower cranes, and derricks. The company offers a range of customized customer solutions.

But creating a great environment for employees is something Auringer cares about just as much as supplying great project equipment. His company employs an unheard-of 90% minority employees, most of whom have stayed with the company for more than half a decade.

“Our most valuable resource is our employees and through them, we provide a completely managed solution. Our methodology involves value engineering consultation and an extensive review focused on preparation, planning, and engineering for all crane rentals, trucking, and rigging operations,” explains Auringer.
