The Story Behind the Book – Khalid by Tom Barrow
From the synopsis, it would seem that Khalid might be a favorite amongst young people. It is a racy book about a man with enormous amounts of sex appeal and teenage girls being attracted to him. And yet, there are some interesting questions that might pop up as you read this book.
First, we have Khalid, the terrorist. But does he really meet the mark? At first, you might think that Khalid is a giant at best for some teens. After all, we have no idea what his intentions are, but he does seem like a very big target for the girls who pick him out.
After that, it is no surprise that he meets up with several girls at a party in a different order from the way he met up with them initially. You see, they are all hanging out with him and that causes problems for everyone. Their friends do not recognize them, and their girlfriends come away thinking that they are just one of the guys that goes to the parties.
As you continue to read the book, you will get to learn that they do not really have a reason to hang out with him. What they can take from it is that he is attractive and that girls find him hot. We can all feel sorry for these girls that they get to spend so much time with a man who seems so completely uninterested in them. It is no wonder that they grow to hate him and want to run away from him.
In all seriousness, this book is not one to take lightly. This is a story about terrorists and the aftermath. Some have been killed and some have ended up very badly injured. Yet, we can also see that some have turned around and have forgiven the terrorists.
While it is easy to dismiss what these girls did, you should consider that it is a fact that they did participate in a terrorism attack. Many were caught red handed. They could get a long jail sentence if convicted, which is more than likely. So, we cannot disregard what they did, but then again, their actions can be seen as innocent.
Khalid seems like a younger man to these young men, but you may wonder how they ended up with such a large portion of girls. This is a question that needs answering. How do they feel about this now that they are out of prison?
This is a great book to read. You will get a good idea of how Khalid was able to pull off his terrorist attack. You will learn about girls and their attitudes toward him.
