The basic reason why this form of cancer took root is that of exposure to asbestos in the workplace. This is a very lethal form of cancer because it affects the lining of the lungs, the lining of the heart and other vital organs and can spread to other parts of the body. This is why it is very important to identify the disease at an earlier stage so that it can be diagnosed and treated effectively. There are several types of mesothelioma and they are;

mesothelioma Causes

Pleural mesothelioma causes the lining of the lungs to become affected. It is generally found among people working in industrial sectors such as power plants and mining. Peritoneal mesothelioma causes the lining of the abdominal cavity. Pericardial mesothelioma causes the lining of the heart to become affected. Although all three mesothelioma causes are quite dangerous, only the third one – pleural mesothelioma – has been proven to be life-threatening.

The mesothelioma causes identified by the doctors depend on the extent of exposure to asbestos. For instance, patients who were subjected to the highest amounts of asbestos exposure will have a greater chance of developing the disease. This means that the earlier the disease is diagnosed, the better the chances of successful treatment options. Asbestos is primarily found in building materials including roofing tiles, ceiling and floor tiles, insulation and pipe work. Even then, there are chances of exposure even in these areas, as there are many persons who work in such facilities and do not know that they are in contact with asbestos at all times.

The latest mesothelioma treatment options available include surgical techniques and chemotherapy, which are used to destroy the malignant cells. Surgeries used to remove the affected cells include peritoneum mesothelioma, pericardial mesothelioma, pleura mesothelioma and periculopecia areata. Chemotherapy, on the other hand, is used to reduce the damage caused by the disease. In this procedure, the targeted cells are targeted using a particular combination of drugs and medicines. The aim is to stop the production of fibers and enzymes that are responsible for creating the disease.

Mesothelioma patients who have been exposed to asbestos fibers through secondhand exposure are more likely to suffer from this disease than those who have not been exposed. According to studies, this is the major cause of the majority of mesothelioma cases. Mesothelioma causes are thus linked to people who have been in close contact with asbestos products. Secondhand exposure is also a very important factor because it may not have reached the asbestos-containing products that have been used by people in the past.

There are different types of mesothelioma, and different types of treatments are recommended to patients who are diagnosed with the disease. The prognosis of this disease depends on how advanced the patient’s condition is, and on the kind of cell cancer that is present in the patient. Treatments for different types of mesothelioma can be administered separately or together. However, a person who has been diagnosed with this disease should avoid all kinds of asbestos fibers, which can still be found in the soil, the buildings and the air.
