Jeff Bezos and Amazon.com – Will Amazon.com Ever Become a Part of the Ecommerce Industry?

The public has now got to know that Amazon.com is the biggest online retailer for the gift items and Amazon Corporation is the biggest retailing company in the world. Before they are known as the marketplace where millions of consumers shop, Amazon.com and Jeff Bezos are known as the e-commerce giants who are taking the brick and mortar stores from their background.

But is it a smart move for Amazon.com to take on the eBook marketplaces? Or is it a strategic move by Amazon.com to help its own business grow? Let’s find out.

It is obvious that the book retailing industry is a big mistake for bricks and mortar retailers. Retailers prefer to sell books to their customers at a cheaper price than they would if they sell books to their customers online. This is because books are always bigger than books and that is the major profit center for a retail retailer.

As of today, ebooks are a huge hit among the online retailers. More people prefer to buy books than physical books. People want convenience and online access to different ebooks and this is what ebooks give. Not only can online sellers compete against physical retailers in the book trade but also online retailers are given an opportunity to compete with physical retailers in the ecommerce arena.

The big question is whether or not Amazon.com is aware of the fact that it has its hands tied in the trade of physical products as it is not an ecommerce firm and the competition from online retailers is an existential threat to its business. The ecommerce firms do not have physical products of their own but they can use the brands and names of the physical products to build their brands. Amazon.com does have a lot of brand loyalty and is surely going to suffer a loss if it ends up being dragged into the world of ecommerce. But what about Amazon.com? Well, with Amazon.com’s owner Jeff Bezos’ comments, it will be interesting to see if Amazon.com really wants to enter the ecommerce market of the physical products. It might even be a wise move for Amazon.com to explore the possibility of entering the online trade of physical products.

It is also a wise move for Amazon.com to take a peek into the physical trade of ebooks and products. Amazon.com can also find out that the eBook marketplaces are a little difficult to handle than the online retailing of physical products.

So, it is clear that Amazon.com is going to continue to take on the online retailers and ecommerce industry. It might not have the money to run against online retailers but will have to depend on what Jeff Bezos has in mind. Bezos may want to use Amazon.com to become the largest player in the physical business and Amazon.com may just want to have a say in the world of physical products.
