Tucking your hair behind your ears can go really wrong really fast. It might sound like the easiest hairstyle to achieve in the book, but we’ve all walked outside with perfect hair only to be met with humidity and some tailwind, quickly turning your polished look into a school picture day hairstyle gone wrong.

Take it from Taylor Lautner, who knows this all too well:

Unlike the rest of us mere mortals, Gwen Stefani has never fallen victim to picture day hair, and her look at last night’s Grammys was no exception. Maybe she never goes outside when it’s windy, or maybe she knows something we don’t know.

Gwen’s hair stylist tipped us off on what seems like the best kept secret in the industry: a $6 frizz cream that keeps her hair silky all night, maintaining movement but lending the right amount of hold to keep it tucked behind her ears.

“‘Gilded tresses’ and ‘sleek chic’ are the vibes I had in mind for this look,” Gwen’s hair stylist, Danilo, tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “Effortless glam that is polished and perfected.” Danilo prepped Gwen’s hair by washing with keratin smoothing shampoo ($6) and coconut oil infusion conditioner ($3). On wet hair, he applied keratin heat defense leave-in conditioner ($3) for protection and added softness.

Danilo’s hero product comes next, a dime-sized amount of Suave Professionals Sleek Anti-Frizz Smooth & Shine Cream ($6) makes the hair extra sleek and shiny. Formulated with silk protein and vitamin E, it keeps flyaways tame all day. Once hair is prepped, Danilo blow dries Gwen’s hair straight using a mixed bristle brush, finishing off with a flatiron to smooth out any kinks. He then sets the hair with Suave Professionals Flexible Control Finishing Hairspray ($3) to make sure that tuck stays in place.
