Mesothelioma Causes – Discover the Mesothelioma Causes

The causes of mesothelioma are unknown, but it is considered to be the most lethal form of cancer that affects the internal organs. Since this cancer has no cure, the chances of survival are very low. The primary cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos.

The exposure can come from a fall from a height, when the asbestos fibers break off and enter the lungs are exposed to asbestos. This is a known cause in the workplace. It is the most common form of cancer.

Another cause is inhaling asbestos fibers. These fibers are most commonly found in the work place where they are used for insulation. They also find their way in construction materials. There are still many particles that are not seen or felt but are still entering our air.

Being exposed to asbestos during one’s youth increases the chances of developing mesothelioma as they are more likely to develop lung cancer at a later age. Those who are already in their 70s are most prone to develop this cancer. The reason is that the growth of mesothelioma cells occurs faster in older people.

Anyone can get mesothelioma when asbestos exposure leads to a disease called Asbestosis. When this happens the symptoms of mesothelioma will appear. Sometimes a doctor will notice other abnormalities in the body of the person who has developed mesothelioma.

Laboratory tests and blood tests are used to detect Mesothelioma. As the condition is incurable, the treatment plan includes: radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgery, and immunotherapy. Many cancer patients have lost the fight against the disease but are continuing the treatments.

Nowadays, there are environmental dangers that can cause this cancer. Asbestos is the most common culprit, because it was first used for insulation. But it is not the only thing that we need to worry about.

Just think of all the chemicals out there that we could be exposed to daily; how much do you think this is a real threat? Perhaps this will not seem like such a big deal now. But when it comes to our bodies, it is something we cannot afford to take for granted.
