Rite Aid Corp. said Tuesday it has expanded the criteria to allow for more people to be offered self-swab testing of COVID-19, with all adults exhibiting symptoms eligible for diagnostic screening for free.
The drugstore chain said the testing criteria now includes everyone 18 years and older who exhibit symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell.
Rite Aid RAD, +7.14% said it offers self-swab testing at 25 of its stores across eight states, with drive-thru testing available at more than half of those locations. Those seeking tests need to preregister online to schedule a time, and are required to have government-issued identification and an email address.
The company’s testing sites are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time seven days a week. Each site has a capacity to conduct 400 tests a day.
Rite Aid’s stock rallied 6.4% in afternoon trading. It has soared 37% over the past three months, while the S&P 500 index SPX, 0.19% has lost 12.1%.
