Inspirational Advice From Billie Eilish – A Look Into Her Life

It is hard to think of a performer on the stage today who exudes as much hilarity and joy as that of Billie Eilish, as she has the ability to light up the stage with her humor and infectious personality. She is funny and charming, and the crowd simply cannot help but be entertained. She may be best known for her roles in TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, Disney’s Cinderella, and most recently, as part of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, on the Disney Channel.

Billie Eilish’s past experiences in her life have given her the unique perspective to portray characters that are relatable to many women. She grew up in a poor Irish-American family in Ohio. It was her mother who instilled in her daughter the importance of working hard for everything she got, and in turn, made her daughter appreciate all that she had. After high school, Eilish attended graduate school at Washington University and began writing and performing in the theatre.

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries may have ended, but Eilish’s comedy career did not. She has performed regularly on the West End and toured in several countries, including the United Kingdom. Her next gig will be at the Indigo in New York City. She also co-founded the Women’s Centre in Ireland, which supports women in Irish politics and entertainment. In 2020, she won a Young Artist Award from the National Alliance of Working Artists, given annually to an emerging new talent.

While many performers use their lives in show business as an opportunity to get a rise out of the audience, not many entertainers can pull it off as effectively as Eilish. She seems to have the ability to light up the room with her natural goofiness, her incredible sense of humor, and her ability to light up any audience. In fact, if anyone could write a book on how to be an entertainer, it would be Billie Eilish.

In this video interview, we were able to sit down with Billie Eilish to talk about her book, and the life lessons she learned while growing up in the neighborhood where she lived. She shares some amazing stories about how she gained her confidence and sense of humor, as well as what she hopes the book will do for others.

The first lesson that Billie Eilish learned from her neighborhood was to be honest about one’s self. She tells us that, “If you really want to succeed, you have to be true to yourself and be a character unto yourself. And I would recommend that, like my neighborhood, you do the same.” While she never met her dad, she says that he “gave me the self-confidence to be my own person.”

The second lesson that Billie Eilish learned from her life was, “Don’t expect people to come to you for assistance; that can happen only if you give yourself to them.” While that’s certainly true, she also notes that “it’s actually very easy to fall into the trap of relying on someone else for help in your life; there are ways of proving to yourself that you can do it yourself.” She shares a story about when she had a cold and needed to take some medicine, and how the pharmacist helped her in a special way, and tells us that she always tries to look beyond those who can offer help.

Lastly, Billie Eilish tells us that her greatest strength is her love for Jesus, which she believes can be taught from birth. She says, “It’s really important to bring that faith in Jesus Christ and use it as a foundation for being successful.” She also shares some advice about being nice and telling the truth, and says that it is very important to be kind to others.
