Over the years, I have been a huge fan of Bobbing For Apples and have watched it with my children. We would frequently re-run episodes in our family DVR just to watch what the kids could do.
Bobbing for Apples was a show that many people thought was really cute. And even though we were young and didn’t understand all the jargon and phrases, it seemed to make sense. With children, and especially toddlers, language was always a big concern. Especially, when it came to things like proper use of pronouns.
Children often don’t fully understand the proper way to use pronouns. And this is one of the things that make some so difficult to work with. Billie Eilish, who created the show with her husband, Jack, always tried to be there as a sounding board for her children.
In today’s world, that’s a real blessing. It’s so important to get children to speak the right way. That’s why, for instance, that you should never get your toddler to say “I” rather than “you.”
One of the most common mistakes parents make is to teach one thing in preschool and teach another later. This could be seen with a lot of preschoolers, but especially so with toddlers. Kids should not be taught things that are not well-received by them.
Many parents want to get a child to repeat a word or phrase, but Billie Eilish, while she loved that children loved the show, always reminded us that children love words. The words should be repeated by the child and they shouldn’t be forced to say them.
Bobbing for Apples was just one example of what made Bobbing for Apples so popular with children. It’s not an unusual show today for kids to enjoy.
