If you really, really want a Spice Girl stamp, then you’re in luck.

Royal Mail is issuing a set of 15 stamps celebrating one of the world’s most successful pop groups, as they mark their 30th anniversary.

It is the first time Royal Mail has dedicated an entire stamp issue to a female pop group.

The Spice Girls said they never could have dreamed of that happening when they first formed, adding: “That’s Girl Power!”

Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Melanie Chisholm and Melanie Brown – otherwise known as Baby, Posh, Ginger, Sporty and Scary Spice – came together in 1994.

The 10 main stamps feature images from their performances from 1997 to 2012, including at the Brit Awards in 1997, and at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Other images include Victoria Beckham, performing during The Return of the Spice Girls Tour at Madison Square Garden in New York City in 2008.

Geri Halliwell-Horner, in her iconic Union Jack dress at the 1997 Brits, also gets her own stamp.

Ginger Spice – as she was known then – made headlines that year when she kissed then-Prince Charles at a charity event held for the Prince’s Trust.

A portrait of the now-King Charles has appeared on all standard Royal Mail stamps since last April.

A further five stamps, in a miniature sheet, are individual images of the band members from the Spice World photoshoot.

After the release of their chart-topping debut single Wannabe in 1996, “Spice mania” swept the planet.

In total, they scored nine UK number one hits, which also included Say You’ll Be There, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are, Spice Up Your Life and Viva Forever.

The band become only the sixth music group to feature in a dedicated stamp issue, following on from The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, The Rolling Stones in 2022 and Iron Maiden in 2023.

The Spice Girls said they were “so excited to be celebrated by Royal Mail, alongside some of the most iconic and influential music legends”.

David Gold, Royal Mail director of external affairs and policy said: “The Spice Girls have been a force to be reckoned with since they formed as a group in 1994.

“We are proud to celebrate the most successful female music group ever seen, not only for their music but their enduring influence over so many aspects of our lives.”

The stamps go on general sale on 11 January.
