Khalid, the name is well known. His authentic biography would have been scattered all over the newspapers. He was the greatest human being in history and a great human being himself. He is also famous for his historical achievements.
In modern times, all the credit goes to Mohammad Ali Jinnah. At first the Muslim League was in favor of the Muslims taking part in the Partition of India. But after some time, it turned into the Congress being in favor of partition. After many discussions and deliberations, it was decided that the Muslims should be allowed to go to Pakistan. However, if they want to stay in India, they can join the other Indian factions.
As for the Muslims, they had no real choice but to leave their homes in India and go to Pakistan. They could have settled down peacefully and contributed with time to the common good of the nation, but they chose to leave the country and live abroad. It was the real legacy of Khalid that he was the first Pakistani leader who tried to build a new Pakistan. He was of the opinion that Muslims cannot live in a divided country, as they are a great and cohesive nation. His wisdom was a key ingredient in that he felt that Kashmir was something which could be a time bomb, which might explode and cause a lot of harm to the Pakistani nation.
One more important thing about him was that he supported Kashmiris as they were the people, who deserved respect and due autonomy. Khalid has once said that Pakistan and India must be united, because India is my home and India must be happy, as her brother Pakistan is now its brother and she shall never be lonely. His motto was, let the fire of Kashmir set the India blaze. It did and now Pakistan is the strongest nation in South Asia.
After the partition, as per his wish, Adh-Dhan Sachar was given out in each and every household of the Pakistani people. His request was that Muslims should remember the pain of losing their homes and take care of them in future. He had created a new identity for them, so that they do not repeat their mistake. His opinion was that they should not let the Government forget them.
He urged them to take part in the survey work of Shahi Araba, so that Kashmir is given a clean slate. As the outcome of this survey, he helped the government to get a piece of land there, as well as financial aid for the welfare of the people. He had put forward the proposition to Pakistan and India to agree on a resolution on Kashmir. But Pakistan was not agreeable to it.
As they did not agree on it, their voices were quiet and one day there was a conference in Islamabad where a group of Pakistanis came to him with a proposal of a solution to Kashmir. They asked him to get the settlers together and create a separate Kashmir. He refused and told them that he was going to complete his life work.
He told them that they should continue to follow the path of their ancestors and disown them, because if they disown them, then how will the Kashmiris accept their fate. He also advised them to be united and at the same time, declare Pakistan and India to be one nation. He always insisted on unity and said that the Muslims must unite and live as one and give pride to Pakistan.
