Thousands of cold-stunned turtles were rescued as temperatures dropped to record lows in Texas this month. Now they are being returned to Gulf of Mexico.

Sea turtles are vulnerable to cold waters, which hinders their movement.

“They’ll drown in the water if not rescued,” said Wendy Knight of the non-profit Sea Turtle Inc.
