The blaze broke out at a home in Sanderstead Road, south Croydon, just before 23:00 on Friday.

Three men are dead and one more is in a life-threatening condition after a house fire in south London.

The fire broke out at a home in Sanderstead Road, south Croydon, just before 23:00 GMT on Friday.

Two men were pronounced dead at the scene. A third man, believed to be in his 30s, died later in hospital, the Metropolitan Police said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by police and London Fire Brigade.

Officers are trying to trace the men’s families.

Two other men took themselves to hospital following the fire. One remains in a life-threatening condition, while the other has been discharged.

An LFB spokesperson said: “Most of the ground floor of a two-storey end-of-terrace house was damaged by fire.

“The brigade was called at 22:39 and the fire was brought under control by 00:16. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Croydon, Purley, Woodside, Norbury and Wallington stations attended.”
