The government has published an official list of 147 schools in England it says have crumbling concrete.

It follows mounting pressure to confirm the names of education facilities built using reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete, known as RAAC.

Four of the schools are teaching all pupils online as a result of RAAC, according to the government.

The number of schools on the list – compiled by the Department for Education (DfE) – could change.

The DfE used responses from a survey issued to all schools in England to produce its list. It only includes responses received as of 30 August, and 5% of schools had not responded.

It also only includes affected schools inspected by a surveyor appointed by the DfE – and not those which had RAAC confirmed by their own surveyor.

According to the list, 19 schools in England have delayed the start of the new school year, impacting around 9,731 pupils.

An additional 2,960 pupils in another four schools are undergoing “fully remote” learning, and 22,339 pupils across 20 schools are receiving a mix of face-to-face and remote learning.

Shadow education secretary Bridget Phillipson has said she is concerned there could be “omissions” in the government’s list.

BBC News will update this article as more schools are added.
