Oprah Winfrey is a brilliant and influential woman. As an accomplished businesswoman, writer, presenter and journalist, she has opened up doors for other women that she could never have gotten through on her own. In this article we take a look at the influence Oprah Winfrey has on women.
For example, while still a child she found it necessary to join the Baptist church and later in life she started a support group for women. This was a very brave step for someone who had always considered herself an atheist.
Oprah has her own fortune built on a personal investment in her business, which is based on helping other women become successful in their own lives. In her mind she is helping them to be more self-sufficient and independent, which has resulted in her receiving many awards from the United States of America for this charity work.
She created her own women’s radio station called “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 1994. She later stated in an interview that the idea was hers and that there were no plans to start a television station in the near future.
She also started a support group for women, which has had a huge effect on many women in today’s society. It gives women the opportunity to come together and discuss their problems and share their views and experiences with other women who may be going through the same issues that they are.
Another thing that she has done is to start the non-profit “Education Development through the power of Women” (EDWOP) in 1984. The name is a play on words of her television show with the title; “Education Through the Power of Oprah.”
This non-profit organization has brought positive publicity for many of her media outlets such as “The Oprah Winfrey Show”The Dr. Phil Show.” The EDWOP website contains all sorts of information about how to be healthy, achieve your dreams and how to become more confident.
While there is much more to this amazing woman, I hope this has given you some insight on how she has affected many women who are out there striving to reach their goals. When you are trying to get out of the same old patterns of living, Oprah has helped millions of women.
