There’s no denying that Oprah Winfrey’s transformation from world-class fat-cat to anti-obesity crusader is truly impressive. The man who once bought a house with cash and borrowed money to make lavish purchases for her personal amusement now buys only basic things like linen, bedding, toiletries and dishes.

In case you’re wondering what the same woman who spent thousands of dollars on necklaces and diamond studded jewelry in her early days is now doing, here’s what she has to say: “I still love money. But I’m very careful. I don’t spend much anymore.”

But if you are one of those who still loves the American icon, you will surely agree that at the age of 62, Oprah is living an exemplary life and doesn’t seem to be worried about anything. She has maintained her status as one of the most popular personalities in the country and is also known for her philanthropic activities.

To be more specific, Oprah purchased a dream home which includes a great room with an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean view villas in a posh community named Ishikawa, Japan. Oprah chose the hotel because of its location at the top of Mount Nagoya, which she calls her “nest of heaven”. Oprah Winfrey didn’t just buy this place, she rented it out and opened a restaurant and a conference facility. It was here that Oprah Winfrey and family entertained visitors from all over the world.

But Oprah has not been satisfied with her life and wants to do more. It’s just that she wants to do it with less.

Oprah Winfrey is definitely the ultimate power behind the financial success of the American television host, actress and entrepreneur. According to Oprah’s recent book, she turned down an offer to make a fortune and become a princess. “I came to understand that the choice I make today will either give me something greater or give me nothing,” she says in her book.

Oprah is currently sitting in the hospital receiving her fifth heart transplant. She is being kept alive on a ventilator and a continuous oxygen and a feeding tube. The truth is that Oprah Winfrey is indeed living a life of simplicity and dignity.

The only thing that she wants to do now is to lead a simpler life, which is more like the lifestyle she lived when she was able to take control of her health. “I’ve always wanted to live the kind of life that has more meaning and substance to it than just material possessions. I’m in the process of reclaiming that sense of purpose,” she says in her book.
