Is Amazon Prime Memberships Worth It?
The Amazon Prime program is one of the best products ever created. When you are a member of the program, you can enjoy free shipping on thousands of items at no extra cost. However, even though this is a great benefit, not all the benefits are as advertised.
Free shipping does not automatically give you access to the store. You still have to pay for shipping when you purchase your item. It does not cover any other fees such as sales tax, transfer taxes, and VAT. You still have to pay these charges. There are more restrictions if you are ordering items from an international site, and if you live in a state that does not accept returns on purchases.
Even though you are not charged for free shipping, you still have to pay for shipping with the regular shipping methods. This means that the items that you ordered will still have to be shipped to you, unless you bought them through the Amazon Prime program. If you are ordering these items through the regular methods, you would have to pay for the shipping charges as well.
Amazon Prime memberships are only available for one year. After that, you will have to pay the regular shipping costs for the items that you had already purchased. With this being said, it is only sensible that you do not purchase items from the program.
You will have to pay the membership fee again when you go to renew your membership. Since the free shipping and membership cost are the same, you have to pay the same amount for the renewal. This means that you will not receive the benefits that you were promised during the first year of membership.
With the new membership fees, Amazon has placed its products in the middle of competition among other websites. There is no way that it can offer the same benefits that other companies can. This means that it has to compete with other companies on price and quality, and that has already been done with the Amazon Prime program.
With the new membership fee, you should only consider Amazon if you have shopped online in the past. If you are like most people, you have never paid for shipping with your credit card. If you have never paid for your Amazon orders before, you may not realize that you have been ripped off.
